UNCG LIS student and ACE Scholar Alesha Lackey was the winner of the NCLA membership gift basket at the recent conference in Greenville.

Per Alesha, “There were some nice items in the basket, everything except for a book about NC lighthouses, had the NCLA logo on it. Those items included:

  • a t-shirt
  • a pink travel coffee mug
  • a regular coffee mug
  • a flashlight keychain
  • a set of golf balls
  • a multicolored rubber bracelet (you know the “cause” bracelets) with the word “read” in about 7-10 languages
  • a very nice canvas/leather “padfolio”

Welcome, 2009 ACE Scholars

UNCG is proud to welcome the first cohort of ACE Scholars within the Department of Library and Information Studies. With the goal of increasing the number of culturally diverse librarians in adademic libraries, UNCG instituted the Academic and Cultural Enrichment (ACE) Scholars Program in 2009. Using a generous grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services’ Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian Program, we have recruited twelve students from under represented communities into a two-year MLIS degree program.

Meet the 2009 ACE Scholars cohort.
