LIS Alumni Luncheon May 1st – “Sponsor a Graduate”

Dear LIS Community,

The UNCG LIS Alumni Association is proud to start the new tradition of “Sponsor a Graduate to the LIS Alumni Luncheon” and the LIS faculty are happy to participate in sponsoring an LIS graduate of August 2009, December 2009 and May 2010.  LIS alumni and friends are invited to sponsor one or more 2009-10 UNCG LIS graduates ($10/ticket) to this year’s UNCG LIS Alumni Luncheon taking place Saturday, May 1st, in the Virginia Dare room at the Alumni House at UNC-Greensboro.

This year’s speaker, presenting the Cora Paul Bomar Lecture, will be Dr. David Cecelski, a lover of libraries and librarians, and an independent historian and writer on Southern history.  In his lecture, “Love in the Archives: the Search for Abraham Galloway”, Dr. Cecelski, who received his Ph.D. from Harvard University, recounts his journey through the nation’s archives and libraries to uncover the extraordinary story of a fugitive slave, Union spy, and African-American political leader.

Please join me at the luncheon and in sponsoring a graduate by contacting Jeff Stabnau at jeff.stabnau@syngenta.com or (336) 632-7570.  More information on the luncheon and alumni activities can be found below or at: http://uncglisaa.wordpress.com/2010/03/08/spring-2010-alumni-luncheon/
