LIS Alumni Luncheon May 1st – Invitation to all and Complimentary ticket to 2009-10 Graduates

TO: LIS Graduates of August 2009, December 2009 and May 2010

The UNCG LIS Alumni Association invites you to attend the UNCG LIS Alumni Luncheon on Saturday, May 1st, in the Virginia Dare room at the Alumni House at UNC-Greensboro.  Your luncheon ticket is generously sponsored by the LIS faculty, alumni and friends who are participating in our “Sponsor a Graduate to the LIS Alumni Luncheon” initiative.

This year’s speaker, presenting the Cora Paul Bomar Lecture, will be Dr. David Cecelski, a lover of libraries and librarians, and an independent historian and writer on Southern history.  In his lecture, “Love in the Archives: the Search for Abraham Galloway”, Dr. Cecelski, who received his Ph.D. from Harvard University, recounts his journey through the nation’s archives and libraries to uncover the extraordinary story of a fugitive slave, Union spy, and African-American political leader.

Please join us at the luncheon, to celebrate with fellow graduates and meet UNCG LIS alumni by sending an RSVP to Jeff Stabnau at jeff.stabnau@syngenta.comor (336) 632-7570.  Registration begins at 11:30 with the luncheon and business meeting at Noon. The menu will be an Italian Pasta Buffet, salad, breadsticks, tea, and tiramisu cake.  Should you wish to invite others, the cost of the luncheon is $25 per plate and $10 for current MLIS students, and tickets can be purchased from Jeff Stabnau. Free parking is available near the Alumni House and behind the Weatherspoon Art Gallery.  More information on the luncheon and alumni activities can be found below or at:
