LIS Career Night – Thursday, October 15th

This semester’s Career Night will be Thursday 10/15 in Stone 186 (Greensboro) and in Fretwell 126 (Charlotte). It will be moderated by Dr. Richard Monitz and there will be an introduction by Dr. Chu.


5-5:30 Reception at both locations

5:30-6:30 Panel Discussion

6:30-7:00 Networking at each location.

Questions to be Covered:

  • What do you currently do in your position?
  • What has been your career path since leaving library school?
  • Advice for emerging librarian and information professionals, especially in terms of skills they should be learning in library school.
  • Predictions about the future developments in the library field
  • What do you do to stay current in the field?
  • What kinds of networking do you do as a professional?
  • What kinds of things could I do that I might not be thinking about as I finish my degree (e.g. write a paper for publication, volunteer at a library to get experience, etc.)?

There will be time for your own personal questions and networking. Look forward to seeing you there!
