Clinical Assistant Professor/Charlotte Program Coordinator
Library and Information Studies
Position Number: 3082
The Department of Library and Information Studies invites applications for the position of Clinical Assistant Professor/Charlotte Program Coordinator. This is a 9-month position at the lecturer, non-tenure track level with the option of teaching in the summer. The successful candidate will be hired on a three-year contract and will complement the existing strengths of the LIS program and faculty. Salary is commensurate with experience.

The Clinical Assistant Professor/Charlotte Program Coordinator’s chief responsibilities include: administration and coordination of the Charlotte program, instruction, student affairs, assessment, external relations, staff supervision and university service. The Coordinator reports directly to the Department Chair.

The Department has a Masters of Library and Information Studies (MLIS) enrollment of over 250 students and delivers the program via the Internet, through the campus Tele-learning Center or face-to-face to students in Greensboro and Charlotte. The Charlotte Program serves approximately 90 students. The American Library Association accredits the MLIS program.

Bottoms has been selected as one of 20 REACH 21 Institute Scholarship recipients. As a recipient, she will receive support (including travel within the U.S. and Canada, lodging and meals up to $1,500) to attend the upcoming 2010 Spectrum Leadership Institute June 23-25, 2010 in Washington, DC. The REACH 21: Preparing the Next Generation of Librarians for Leadership project is funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS).

The Institute brings together LIS students and graduates from across the country to network, learn models of cross-cultural leadership, reaffirm professional values grounded in service to diverse communities, develop career skills and connect with a wide-range of leaders and potential mentors. It is designed to empower participants to attain and retain positions of leadership, thereby ensuring the quality and validity of library and information science for our increasingly diverse population of users.
